How To Make ClickUp Work For You With Custom Fields

I want to kick off this series by sharing why I actually love it so much and why I upgraded within only a few minutes of using it. I just want to say that I very rarely upgrade a tool unless I’ve used it for a long time and I know that I will keep using it consistently and not waste my money. However, with ClickUp, I upgraded within five minutes because I knew. I knew I was going to use it. And in saying that, you don’t have to upgrade. The free version is very powerful and you can simply do everything with it as well. That feature that I’m about to talk about is available on the free plan but has limitations. For me, that changed the whole game and this is called: custom fields. Custom fields are extra fields that you can add on your task so that you can manage things in a different way. 

You can do more filtering, add additional information. So, instead of having everything in your task description, you just have extra fields where you just add that information.

The way I use custom fields in my business is this: I have a project with all my what I’ve called the “business as usual” task or my “daily operations”. I categorise the tasks using custom fields so that when I do batch work then I can find all my tasks easily so everything that’s website-related, everything that’s money-related, everything that’s marketing-related… I also use custom fields a lot for my content management: for my channels, my pillars, the themes and all the different things. I basically use custom fields across ClickUp for so many different things and that’s what makes ClickUp so versatile and so customizable. And that’s why I upgraded and why I love it so much.
